1. I keep thinking about this amazing thread. It sheds light on the Dem leadership decision to slow-walk or stall impeachment. The main argument is a political one (impeachment meaningless unless GOP on board). Does it hold?
2. I'm under no illusion that there are many Republicans like Justin Amash, who will break with Trump & say what he did is impeachable. But even if vast majority of GOP is Trumpized, not all of GOP is.
3. Even if only a few GOP congress break with Trump & vote for impeachment, it's a significant wedge. It's good to get on the historical record that even members of his party acknowledged Trump committed crimes. Pelosi's stalling forecloses that possibility.
4. This is the political possibility that stalling impeaching forecloses: the opportunity to reach Republicans (both in congress and out) who might be persuadable. There aren't many but it's valuable to create a wedge:
