The charges are all under 18 USC 793. There is no death penalty under that statute unlike 794 that involves espionage for a foreign power IMO he could be charged under either statute. But this keeps the extradition in play. law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18…
I looked at the Assange docket. There are two missing documents. Dkt 32 and 33. Just like in many Mueller dockets. If the US is limited in the extradition to the first indictment this may be just the setup for charging other co-conspirators. Also, it clearly opens up FISA.
