Graham Brady confirms to me he is considering a run at the Tory party leadership, having received “approaches from a number of colleagues across the party”. He has therefore resigned as chair of 1922 cttee, or shop steward for Tory MPs, so he can take further soundings...
and decide whether to throw his hat in the ring, when nominations open on 10
June.

PS this means the returning officers for the leadership election will now be the vice chairs, Gillan and Walker. If Brady was his own returning officer we would be into tinpot state democracy
