Might not be worth saying this but for those who don’t like my political views, here’s what I’m trying to do: get everyone good health care that’s single-payer & free-at-point-of use. Also, good public schools with manageable class sizes & well-paid teachers, for all kids.
There are many other important issues but inequity in health care & education are how I got interested in politics & they remain my biggest causes. These inequities exist because the very wealthy hoard resources they took from you over the years.
And mass movements, like it or not, is how we make the good stuff happen. For example: it’s GREAT to recycle but even if we all do it & the US military remains the world’s largest polluter, so… we have to unite & get active & organized & loud to make things better.
Anyway just wanted to say this all explicitly because one’s motivations are *really* important. Mine begin with “Everyone should be able to get medical care without experiencing ANY $ stress” & “Every kid should have a great education.” No exceptions.
The amazing news is that the US & the UK (the 2 places I’ve lived & know anything about) can afford it. They’re fabulously, incomprehensibly wealthy nations. The question is, do they want to? If so, there’s quite a bit more we can do to achieve it. We’re very powerful.
I’ll say more one day but having my career quickly ascend over the exact same roughly 2 yr time period my son was being disabled & then killed by cancer taught me a lot about what money can (& can’t) do & how it’s used (& not used.)
