Yesterday, I did a thread on ten places to check out in Rome that aren't *completely* overrun by tourists. Today, I'm doing Prague, since it won the poll I ran at the end. Good thing I love the place! Here's ten cool places to see in and around the Czech capital!
10. Sedlec Ossuary - Ok, a bit out of town, but needs to be seen. Created at the start of the 18th century out of bones that had been buried at the Church of All Saints, this is the mother of all 'memento mori'. A grisly masterpiece of arranged bone!

9. U Medvidku - I don't usually put restaurants on these lists, but this place has been brewing beer since the 15th century. Amazing brews and pork dishes served within.

8. Loreta Monastery - Built around a replica of the 'holy home' (Jesus's house), this monastery exemplifies the Baroque period of art turned up to 11. Look for the exhibition about the burial crypt with macabre black and white paintings!

7. Old Town Bridge Tower - Charles Bridge is one of the city's icons, but not many people know you can visit a museum in one of the towers that interprets the medieval (and occult) symbology adorning the interior and exterior.

6. Alchemy Museum - During the reign of Holy Roman Emperor Rudolf II, Prague attracted 'alchemists' from across Europe. This place may look like a tourist trap, but they really have done their homework! Plenty of history along with the cool effects.

5. Our Lady Before Tyn - One of the city's symbols, located on Wenceslaus Square. A gothic church, with a beautiful baroque makeover within. Look for the grave of seminal astronomer, Tycho Brahe.

4. Petrin - Large hill overlooking the left bank of the Vltava, offering sensational views of the city. Bit of a funny feeling up there - probably why they used to do human sacrifices on the hillside.

3. Strahov Monastery - This monastery has existed since the middle ages, but during the 17th and 18th centuries it amassed a huge library and art collection that are an absolute paradise for art lovers. Worth a good few hours.

2. Old New Synagogue - You know the story of the Golem? Well, Rabbi Loew apparently has him sleeping still in the attic - look for the trapdoor and ladder outside. Within, a spectacular early synagogue - a real treasure!

1 Our Lady Underneath The Chain - Oldest church on the left bank, founded in 1100s. Named for the chain used to block the river from attackers. Used by the Order of St John and has many burials. Try to watch a service with everyone in regalia!

10. The Museum of the Order of St John - In a pretty spectacular gatehouse next to their medieval English HQ, @StJohnsGate tells the story of one of the most important chivalric orders of the Middle Ages - and how they ended up with the ambulances!

9. St Bartholomew the Great - Way before there was St Bart's Hospital, this Anglo-Norman church was part of a priory ministering to the sick and poor. Hell of a story to @StBartholomews, and so atmospheric it's been used in many films.

Here's '10 Things To See In Vienna (That You May Have Missed)', since it won yesterday's poll. Hope you enjoy these suggestions for a *very* unique city!
10. Augustinerkirche & Ungarisches Haus - The former Augustinian monastery church (and Habsburg family church) is a sight to behold. Look for the epic cenotaph tomb to Duchess Maria, who had a doomed relationship with Isabella of Parma.
10a. Also try to get access to the crypt, containing the hearts of many Habsburgs in urns.

The house across is the street is the former residence of Elizabeth Bathory, the 'Blood Countess' who tortured her servants.

The last few days I've done '10 Things to do in City X', because, well, I was bored and I love helping people find cool stuff to see. Today is the turn of Berlin, since it won the last poll. One of my favourite cities, here's the stuff to see you may have missed!
10. Berlin Wall Memorial - Preserved section of wall and watchtowers, as well as memorial to all those who died trying to cross the wall. Good museum with interpretive film too. Walls don't work! maps.app.goo.gl/AFdNZiSDX8f6za…

Not only that EVMs have serial numbers.. each machine is sealed by using Paper seals-Paper seals have serial numbers too & they R recorded plus they are signed by Poling Agents of all parties-present at the time of ‘ Mock Poll ‘.

It’s impossible to Swap machines at any time 🙏🏽

Before EVM is put in to actual use at the polling station,the Presiding Officer Prepares the EVM for voting-at the Polling Stations - in the presence of the candidates or their election agents or their polling agents 😒
2. The Presiding Officer starts the preparations about an hour before the time fixed for commencement of the poll and polling agents are to be present at the polling station at that time🤔

#Thread 1/ Today's a day when I think a lot of people are going to be discussing and critiquing #journalism Since I've been teaching the subject for quite some time now, here's some things I tell my students about their relationships to public officials.
2/ The first rule of #journalism, even in the @spj_tweets code of ethics, is to "seek truth and report it." Sources of truth don't always want it shared. Everyone wants to look good, and when people have chosen to do bad things, they don't want you to expose them.
3/ A side #ProTip for newsmakers: The best way to avoid unfavorable coverage is to not do bad things. It's not 100%, but it works a lot better than other shenanigans you try.
