Some leftwing & Congress dimwits on SM have been, since morning, trying to "educate" me on #VeerSavarkar. Just for the record, the revolutionary nationalist phase was my special area of research in the past, my great great grandfather Srijukta Upendranath Bandyopadhay 
one of the leading revolutionaries of the early phase-Agniyug- was a close colleague of Sri Aurobindo, was arrested along with him in the then famous Alipore Bomb Case.He stood trial for a year & was sentenced to deportation to the #CellularJail in Andamans with Barin Ghose et al
Upendranath spent a decade in 'Kala Pani' at the same time as #VeerSavarkar. His memoirs of life as an exile-Nirbasiter Atmakatha-eventually became a classic in Bengali literature. #VeerSavarkar immortalized it & Upendranath by quoting from his book in his own magnum opus
'My Transportation for Life.' Upendra's portrait & an excerpt from his book hangs in the #CellularJail museum. On his release Upendranath joined C.R.Das, worked closely with Netaji, then went on to join the Hindu Mahasabha & supported Dr S.P.Mookerjee
Ullaskar Dutt's 'My Prison Life' his memoirs of #CellularJail & Barindra Kumar Ghose's narrative 'Tale of My Exile' are also classics.The Upendra-Barin-Ullaskar triumvirate formed an inseparable group & have left behind an invaluable narrative of that dark phase
An accomplished writer & columnist Upendranath had written a number of tracts in the famous revolutionary paper Jugantar, was its sub-editor. In the last phase of his life he edited the leading Bengali daily 'Dainik Basumati."
I am not usually given to stating & delineating lineages but at times it is imperative especially when much uninformed and little informed minds try to stuff down a false narrative, coated with a thin veneer of wisdom & erudition. #VeerSavarkar
I am now working on reissuing Upendranath Bandyopadhay's memoirs in English- translated in 1924- with a detailed & comprehensive introduction on that age of revolutionary nationalism...when Bengal saw unfolding of "Agniyug"... #VeerSavarkar was one of central flames of that age
