Okay let’s start #FOIAFriday.

You may remember hearing about how CoreCivic employees at the Stewart ICE prison in Georgia turned away @elrefugioga volunteers who wanted to visit with Jean Jimenez after his mother sought out their help because she was concerned for just safety.
Here’s the story from @JeremyLRedmon at @ajc: ajc.com/news/breaking-…

The reason CoreCivic offered was made up: Because Jean was in solitary he couldn’t have the same access to visitation, so his mother’s visit on the previous day (the day before Mother’s Day) used up his chance
So here’s what actually happened, as revealed by records disclosed in our #FOIA suit . . .
Within 5 hours of Jean being pronounced dead, ICE officials weren’t asking why a person previously diagnosed as having schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type and a history of suicide attempts and involuntary commitments had been in a solitary cell for 19 days. No, at 6am they say
“We need a complete criminal history on the subject below ASAP.”

Here’s ICE specifically name-checking Mario while documenting (but not reporting to anyone) CoreCivic’s violation of the PBNDS. A frequent and unremedied occurrence at Stewart, according to @DHSOIG
The criminal history email sent just hours after Jean was pronounced dead in the early morning hour on May 15, 2017, appears to be the first time anyone at ICE used the phrase “ASAP” in reference to Jean. He’d been in ICE custody since the beginning of March.
And finally, after it’s clear the buck needs to be passed, no less than the Field Office Director approves passing the buck to CoreCivic.
