@WomenWillDecide @docrocktex26 All I can say, based on information is that the NRA and Russia first got together as far back as 2009 or 2010, which is when the NRA, primarily G. Kline Preston and David Keene, and Russian oligarch Alexander Torshin got together.
@WomenWillDecide @docrocktex26 The original reason for the partnership wasn't political, but rather to help the Russians sell their weapons, such as the AK-47, on the American market. But then in 2011, David Keene handwrote a letter to Alexander Torshin pledging help with his (Torshin's) endeavors.
@WomenWillDecide @docrocktex26 Then in 2012, Torshin was an election observer in G. Kline Preston's hometown, Nashville, TN, during that year's presidential election. A year later (2013), Torshin's assistant, Maria Butina, at an event in Israel, admitted to signing a cooperation agreement with the NRA.
@WomenWillDecide @docrocktex26 Then the year after that, which would be 2014, the NRA campaign coordination scheme began in what was to be a GOP wave election. Earlier this week, @CREWcrew revealed that the NRA did not report $25M in political spending in 2014 to the IRS. Could that have been Russian money?
@WomenWillDecide @docrocktex26 @CREWcrew And that doesn't even begin to mention what they may or may not have disclosed on their tax forms in 2016, as it relates to political spending. This is the fourth potential piece of an NRA/Russia money puzzle, though where the pieces may fit is still unknown.
