Interesting item from the @washingtonpost this evening regarding the NRA and more of it's corruptness. This piece reveals that one GOP congressman, AK Rep. Don Young, now appears to have been in involved in this. @fred_guttenberg @davidhogg111 @maddow

If so, then we can now add him to the LONG list of GOP lawmakers tied to this mess, which includes the NRA. This would make him the 87th GOP lawmaker tied to a piece of this. (I'm still keeping track of this, even though my threads are done.) @maddow @Lawrence @hardball

The thing about this is that Rep. Don Young has been in Congress long enough to have been in Congress when the Nixon Impeachment Hearings were going on in 1973-'74. Young's at least the fifth Watergate-era figure mixed up in all this. @JillWineBanks @JohnWDean @nickakerman

And by the way, what's a current member of Congress doing sitting on the NRA board while still an active member of Congress, while the NRA is wrapped up in the Russia investigations, including those being undertaken by Congress?

Thanks to that reporting by the @washingtonpost, the one current member of Congress who was there during the Watergate hearings back in 1973-'74 may now be right smack in the middle of this mess. Young is the 87th GOP lawmaker tied to this mess.

This also take me back to what @ScottMStedman wrote in his book on how the NRA/Russia nexus apparently got started. An attempted meeting between Russian banker and oligarch Alexander Torshin and then-AK Gov. Sarah Palin in 2009.

Given what was learned in that @washingtonpost article, one must wonder about AK Rep. Don Young's ties to all this, given that he's on the NRA board and the longest current serving member of Congress, and the former governor of his state nearly had a meeting with Torshin in 2009.
