Addressing the Maldivian Parliament, PM Modi says "neighbourhood first is our priority and in the neighbourbood, Maldives is priority". Refers to the Indo-Pacific as the shared region, and that India is paying special attention to the needs concerns of small islands
Maldives as PM Modi's first overseas trip in the second term is quite significant & telling of priorities in foreign policy.

Following on PM @leehsienloong keynote last night who asked great powers not to force small states to choose sides, @ActingSecDef says US doesn’t want any country to choose any country. However, some countries are choosing to act contrary to actions that benefit us all. #SLD2019
@ActingSecDef - we can’t wish away reality as countries use friendly rhetoric to distract from unfriendly actions. US rejects the actions that run contrary to the order that many at #SLD19 benefit from.
@ActingSecDef China stood with US when we fought imperialism and fascism. China can stand with us today as well, no one has benefitted from the current order as much as China #SLD19

Such contradictions reflect significant measurement discrepancies which, in India's case, could be on the order of hundreds of millions of people.
Furthermore, there is the problem of Islamic terrorists, who are trained abroad and find easy fuel in the contradictions within it.
Finally, there’s agriculture which, by some estimates, accounts for 90% of India’s water consumption. Farmers meet irrigation demands by indiscriminately extracting groundwater, which some say accounts for a quarter of the world’s groundwater usage.

#Breaking - Some defense sources report #Indian air strikes across the Line of Control in Muzafarabad, #Pakistan. Indian air force briefing expected later today. Pakistan said Indian jets dropped their payloads & "fled". More confirmation of details needed.
There are also reports of dual, air and ground Indian strikes in Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir. No official word yet. Waiting for updates. Stay tuned.
There are also reports that 2 Pakistani JF-17s fighter jets have been shot down.

Breaking: Large terrorist attack in #India. More than 40 Indian Reserve Police Force personnel were killed and many others injured when Pakistani backed terrorists targeted a convoy with a car bomb at Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir's today, ndtv.com/india-news/15-…
Reports suggested that the vehicle used by the terrorists was a Mahindra Scorpio carrying more than 350 kg of explosives in what is the worst attack ever on security personnel in the state.
Sources said that terrorists triggered the car bomb while 78 vehicles with over 2,500 reserve police men were on the Srinagar-Jammu highway. The stretch on which the incident occurred had been sanitized in the morning & authorities called it a serious breach of security.

On December 20, 2018, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a statutory order authorizing 10 agencies to intercept, monitor and decrypt communications of citizens. The order may be read, here - bit.ly/2rYlx0z #Surveillance
The agencies authorized by MHA include - Intelligence Bureau, National Investigating Agency and Commissioner of Police, Delhi. The order was issued under existing powers given to the MHA as per Section 69 of the IT Act, 2000 and corresponding rules. #Surveillance
Section 69 empowers the govt. to issue directions for surveillance of communications. The corresponding rules empower the MHA to notify other govt. agencies which can perform such surveillance. Thus, these agencies have been notified under existing rules under the IT Act.

This system is designed to ensure no large #industry or facility can release untreated #sewage & harm the #environment.
The readings from the sensors will be monitored live at 7 locations including the @PMOIndia .
