From 1922 to PLP... it looks like a pretty packed meeting. Jeremy Corbyn is speaking tonight.
Lisa Forbes has apologised to the PLP for liking those Facebook posts. Only 30 MPs turned up to her welcome photo this afternoon. Most lukewarm reception for a new MP from their own party to date?
Corbyn thanking MPs who went to campaign in Peterborough last week is going to piss of those who chose not to because of Lisa Forbes’ social media history.
Getting heated in there as MPs discuss the European election results. One MP saying it’s “very wrong” that it has “become normalised” for Labour members to vote for other parties. Demanding to know what “the plan” is from Jeremy Corbyn.
Lisa Forbes’ apology wasn’t enough for Margaret Hodge. She’s bringing up the other incidents that Forbes didn’t mention, including signing the letter opposing the IHRA definition
Ruth Smeeth now laying into Jeremy Corbyn over his failure to effectively trackle antisemitism in the party.
One Labour MP walking out of the meeting jokes “it’s all going very well”
Corbyn is responding now, saying Lisa Forbes should be treated “properly” and that there is “a process” for dealing with antisemitism complaints. He is “must be is, and always will be anti-racist in any form, including antisemitism.” He sounds absolutely furious.
Jeremy Corbyn raised his voice at Wes Streeting, told him to be quiet after he brought up the EHRC investigation
One MP leaving the meeting described it as “really heated”, “an absolute fucking car crash” and “the worst one I’ve been in”
Wes interjected when Corbyn was speaking about the Labour Party being anti-racist. Corbyn said shouted him down, apparently saying “I’m speaking.”
Corbyn was getting it on all fronts. Jess Phillips attacked him over his record on harassment saying his friends get protected.
Wes & Jess just left the meeting.

Streeting said: “One of the worst meetings I’ve ever been in.”

Phillips echoed him saying: “Worst ever!”
And the division bell goes, so that’s it for tonight.
Corbyn’s spokesperson says PLP meetings are normally “robust” and be doesn’t think it was really any more robust than any other.
In his speech tonight Corbyn also referenced the Tory leadership contest: “Labour will never accept No Deal, which will hit living standards and prolong not end uncertainty. Nor will MPs from across parliament. We will work on a cross party basis to block a No Deal outcome.”
Sorry I broke the thread. The rest of it is here:
He says that the Labour Party is*
Apparently it was “let me finish” rather than “I’m speaking” but same sentiment.
