Democracy is a bad idea because the People are ignorant, stupid, & morally corrupt.
Aristocracy is a bad idea because the Elite are stupid, morally corrupt, & subject to ideological possession.
Monarchy is a bad idea because there is no way to ensure a good king ever a tyrant.

The best system therefore seems like some kind of mixed system, with checks and balances.
Western republics are designed to be such a mixed system, but lately have seen the emergence of an Elite “ruling” class.
The worldwide surge of populism is a correction to this.

When the Elite decide they are BETTER than the Many, and so the Many should shut up and stay in their place and simply be dictated to by the Elite, we have a bad situation.
