Another fascinating installment in The Daily's series on the rise of right wing nationalism in Europe. Esp. relevant since the Polish president is currently visiting the US and got on very well with Trump. nytimes.com/2019/06/13/pod…
I started noticing in 2017 that Poland seemed to play an outsized role in the political imaginary of the American far right.
The ties got even stranger and more elaborate around Veterans' Day last year.
I'm no expert on Polish history or politics, but I know a few things about American history and politics...and this building love affair between the American right and the Polish right sure feels ominous to me.
These staunch nationalists share a foreign policy that involves beefed up militaries around the world and fewer international organizations like NATO. Nationalism, IOW, is good for the armament business. foxnews.com/politics/trump…
Unravel the collective security agreements like NATO that emerged after WWII...unravel the economic and political connections like the EU...encourage rising nationalism and each country more aggressively arming itself. What could go wrong???

The same people who responded to the routine, Jade Helm military exercise in 2015 as if it was the beginning of Obama’s totalitarian master plan, will be cheering in the coming weeks as armed federal agents stage coordinated raids across the country.
32% of registered Texas Republicans were concerned about Jade Helm. 50% of Tea Party affiliates were. Greg Abbot, Ted Cruz, and Louie Gohmert all gave the conspiracy theory air.
You’ll be surprised to hear that Alex Jones was heavily into the Jade Helm conspiracy in March 2015, a mere 9 months before his blockbuster interview with candidate Donald Trump where Trump complimented Jones on his great work.

1. The main driver for global economic growth has been and will always be advancement in technology. The economic prosperity of 80s to 2000s was a result of information tech revolution (the internet, aka the third industrial revolution).
2. This info tech driver can no longer propel world economy after 38 years. Markets have become saturated; technologies sprung from the third industrial revolution are advancing only to provide marginal benifits. Your phones, computers from 2008 can get the same job done in 2018.
3. Without a real revolution in technolgy (the fourth industrial revolution), world economy will enter stagnation/decline. Governments around the world knew this. With no better option, they resorted to debt to keep economies from falling apart.

THREAD: I grew up in the Hasidic enclave of Monsey, (signs were in Hebrew). Im Jewish but not religious, Im culturally Jewish, a concept reformed Jews repeatedly explaine to non Jews. Sadly, part of that is living your life knowing people hate you for simply being Jewish.
Judisum is a culture, and dispite thousands of years to exposure and varying levels of integration into the societies we have lived in, it continues to be a insular culture with a long memory. We have been chased all over the world since biblical times looking for safe havens.
Something I remember from childhood and listening to adults speak is the distinct impression that no matter how much power or influences Jews might have at any given time in any given place that all can be taken away and replaced with hate. One only needs to look at the
