The story of Libyan and UAE arms smuggling started in Los Angeles in 2014. Rami Ghanem wanted to buy sniper rifles and night vision. The case expanded to discovering millions of rounds of ammunition, anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles sold to dictators. justice.gov/usao-cdca/pr/a…
Although the UN meticulously documents the weapons that fuel the fighting in Libya, they have done nothing to actually stop the violence. The US when it chooses has been more effective in shutting down proliferators but not the countries that pay for them. undocs.org/S/2016/209
