Ooh. Pitchforks on the Left? I won't hold my breath, but you never know...
What seems remarkable to someone without a horse in the race (being neither a Labour nor a Tory supporter) is that Labour seem!content to let an almost infinite number of goal scoring opportunities pass them by. The Tories are in the worst state of any government still in power.
Yet because of the ideological stubbornness of Jeremy Corbyn and a very, very few cronies, they walk right past the ball, and don't even glance towards the open goal.

An opportunity like the one Labour's squandering comes around about as often as Halley's Comet. So why waste it?

A pattern that recurs, time and again: a Tory or Labour MP comes out publicly against their party citing a laundry-list of valid complaints (Brexit stance, antisemitism, Islamophobia etc. etc.) then... nothing.

They repeat and strengthen their criticism, then... nothing.
This goes on for a while, but other than the group of MPs formerly known as Change UK, none seem to have sufficient courage in their convictions to actually *do* something.

That's despite holding more power than usual due to the delicate balance of power in the HOC.
If half a dozen Tories quit, that's game over for no deal. If a similar number of Labour MPs did so, that might finally stir Corbyn out of his fence-sitting Brexit torpor.

But just moaning and complaining when they have real power to do much more - what's the point in that?

Social media has done a lot of good things, but it has also facilitated the rise of professional pot-stirrers: people who take a deliberately provocative and outrageous position to generate attention.
If they were instead limited to the occasional news panel appearance and to newspaper columns, we wouldn't be troubled by any of them. But thanks to social media, their artificial brew of hate and intolerance is influencing millions, and changing our society for the worse.
You know who I mean. I don't have to name names. I'm not going to deliberately give them the oxygen of publicity. And besides they'll be trending on Twitter again soon. They always do.

Ok, time for a bit of realism on both sides of the Brexit debate!

Leavers: the German car industry isn't going to come galloping to the rescue.

Remainers: yes, aspects of the referendum were illegal. But nobody is going to overturn it on those grounds in any useful timeframe.
So it's no good waiting for the EU to blink under German pressure. Ain't gonna happen.

But it's also no good waiting for the wheels of justice to overturn the flawed, advisory 2016 referendum. That ain't gonna happen either.
Is this annoying, frustrating, infuriating, unfair, unjust etc. etc.

Yes.

Does that affect the hard truths I've pointed out?

No.

Leavers, you were lied to.

Remainers, we're never going to get proper justice.

Sucks, but that's reality for you.

Most of my best memories are of Madras. But, hey, grab your tea and ribbon pakoda, get comfortable, and prepare to enter my la vie en rose.
My oldest memory is from age 1 or so. Freshly mottai, just like a group of Tirupati-bound folks a couple of doors down the street who just assumed that I was part of their goshti. A JIT intervention by the maid was required to save me from an alternate life.
An abiding memory is my grandparents' house in Nungambakkam, with its mango, guava and hibiscus trees. I once cut my foot badly while chasing a cat up the mango tree, and didn't know until I saw bloody footprints on the mosaic floor.

So, where are we today? Overall I would say that the #Labour #Corbyn strategy is working well, and is likely to see Jez in No. 10 at some point in the next year or just over a year.
The #Conservatives are experiencing what looks to me rather like damage ERM crisis did to them in autumn 1992. Have lost 13 points (!) with @YouGov in just six weeks. Bear in mind that experience shows that such falls get worse for some time - could be headed v low.
The moment MV3 failed to pass was a clarifying one, and therefore welcome here - had been wondering for years what was keeping the CON score so high. It was #Brexit. We're now at 50/50 whether it even happens. They will struggle to recover.

I served my country. I saw the horrors war and I was scarred. I saw hate and fear in equal measure. I find it harder since my service to maintain my anger. I react inappropriately at times to the mildest of criticism. I have sought counselling but keep reliving the past.
I never judged someone by their religion, ethnicity, colour or gender. When someone was dying, injured or in distress I reached out to help. It was what I had signed up for it was what I trained for. I thought it would make a difference.
It did make a difference. It changed me it left me damaged because I could not being the suffering to an end. Today the UK feels like the War Zone I left behind. Division, distrust and hate seep from every sinew of our society.

I have two universal Writers Assistant rules:
1) Photograph the Board every night.

2) in an appendix to the daily notes, I always include a transcript of the Board as it existed at day’s end. It’s a good quick reference if someone doesn’t want to read the full discussion
The third rule is that every room will operate slightly differently so be adaptable. But if you’re lucky, you get feedback.

On my last show, week 2, the Co-Ep sent me a late night email - subject: “Your notes.”

My first thought was “I’m in trouble.”
But when I opened it, it continued: “Have been spectacular as I’m going through my story area. Really clear, you have everything down in an organized fashion that shows how nicely you understand story telling.”

I let go of a lot of anxiety about the notes after that

The noises coming out of #Labour on racism towards Jews (let us call it that) are increasingly hollow.
Let's not even talk about the 1000s of oddballs in & around Labour, who rant on about "Zionists", etc like UKIPers talk about "immigrants", but we know where both are pointing.
