Ok, time for a bit of realism on both sides of the Brexit debate!

Leavers: the German car industry isn't going to come galloping to the rescue.

Remainers: yes, aspects of the referendum were illegal. But nobody is going to overturn it on those grounds in any useful timeframe.
So it's no good waiting for the EU to blink under German pressure. Ain't gonna happen.

But it's also no good waiting for the wheels of justice to overturn the flawed, advisory 2016 referendum. That ain't gonna happen either.
Is this annoying, frustrating, infuriating, unfair, unjust etc. etc.

Yes.

Does that affect the hard truths I've pointed out?

No.

Leavers, you were lied to.

Remainers, we're never going to get proper justice.

Sucks, but that's reality for you.
So holding out for either to affect the outcome of Brexit is like waiting for a rescue ship that was never on its way. No help to be found in that direction.

Which means we have to look elsewhere.
(Note: the above is completely separate from any notion of absolution. I believe the full referendum wrongdoing needs to be probed. But I am sanguine that, regardless of if the investigation continues, deepens, or is called off, Brexit won't be affected by the outcome.)
So why am I making this point?

Well, on the Remain side, the argument is immediately lost when we mention the illegality of the referendum (even though it's true). That drum has been banged too many times, and it alerts our opponents that we can't come up with a stronger case.
And on the Leave side, it's such obnoxious stupidity I'm sick of seeing it!
