I gathered FBI data from 2010-2018 of officers feloniously killed. Total:
No. of killers by sex:
● Male: 460 (97%)
● Female: 14 (3%)
By race:
● White: 260 (58%)
● Black: 175 (39.1%)
● American Indian: 8 (1.8%)
● Asian/Pacific Islander: 5 (1.1%)
For clarification, white includes hispanic.
Neither sex nor race is reported for every single killing, but they are for most. I've only counted those where it was reported.
Sex:
● Male: 4172 (95.3%)
● Female: 204 (4.7%)
Race/Ethnicity:
● White/Hispanic: 2683 (69.5%)
● Black: 1002 (26%)
● Other: 173 (4.5%)
In terms of sex/gender it is very close to symmetrical. Females are victims of fatal police shootings in 4.7% cases and are perpetrators of feloniously killing police officers in 3%.
Only a slight difference.
Black people are less likely to be fatally shot by police (26%) than they are to feloniously kill a police officer (39.1%).
