I watched the Lib Dem debate this morning on Sky News, and I feel compelled to point out how RUBBISH its two competing leaders are.

If there was proper scrutiny of their plans and ideas, as there should be given the polling, they'd stand NO chance.
[thread]
There are two candidates: Jo Swinson and Ed Davey. Both are competing to be as uncharismatic, technocratic and arrogant as possible.

Let's start with the obvious. What's their position on Brexit?

'Bollocks to Brexit' right?? Er, not so fast. They both want a Second Referendum.
They are bound to that position because they can't ignore the result of the EU Referendum, AND because both want to deny the Scots an #indyref2.

So, while they mutter 'we must respect the referendum result *cough*' - they can only advocate for another EU Ref (but not Scottish!)
In other words, the Lib Dem position on Brexit is exactly the SAME position as Labour's position on Brexit - who they accuse of being pro-Brexit🙄
It gets worse. Both Lib Dem candidates today said they would absolutely not go into an alliance with Corbyn's Labour.

In a four-way election - that would enable Brexit, as Tories would form an alliance with Brexit Party and come back as government. It would be a vote for Farage.
There is no requirement on the Tories to rule out a deal with the Brexit Party, but the Lib Dems are falling over themselves to rule out a deal with the only party they could work with to stop Brexit.
👏🏽🤗
There's more. Both Lib Dem candidates were asked what they would do to stop growing inequality.

They have NO IDEA. Ed Davey muttered something about corporation tax and giving more money to deprived areas but its clear they have no fucking clue. Nothing bold to say at all.
But here is the BEST bit! They were asked if they regretted going into Coalition. You know, the Coalition that nearly *wiped* them out?

NO! They don't even regret that! Ed Davey said, I shit you not, he regretted they didn't push investment a bit quicker! 😂😂
If either Labour or Tories suffered a defeat on the scale of the Lib Dems in 2015, the next leader would be apologising profusely.

These people are so arrogant they think they have nothing to apologise for from the Coalition days! I really wish more people paid attention to this
The Lib Dem candidates have no answer to struggling families other than minuscule technocratic changes.

They don't have a bold position on Brexit.

They're far too arrogant to admit Coalition was a disaster.

Under proper media scrutiny they stand no chance of winning anything
Look, if you're going to tell me the Lib Dems have a *very* different position to Labour on Brexit, then tell me what it is. Other than a Second Referendum (also a Labour position!) - what are they advocating for?

Ignoring the Referendum result? No. Revoking A50? No. 🤷🏽‍♂️
Are you stressed by high rents, want people to build more housing? Want cheaper train fares or lower energy bills?

I literally did not hear one policy from the candidates in an hour of debate to address that. I feel sorry for Lib Dem member; another sorry choice awaits them /FIN
