Before some muppets start bemoaning the death of the Secular State, this happened at the induction ceremony of Tejas into the IAF.

Secularism is TOTAL separation of Religion and State. Our Constitution is Plural NOT Secular. I lament it but I accept it. And so should you.
You want the govt to not partake in Hindu practices but are fine with it receiving BILLIONS through the control of 104,000 Hindu temples.

If one truly believes that Religion should keep out of State, the corollary is equally applicable: that State should keep out of Religion.

I'm no fan of the secular academical approach to #Islamic militantism. We all know who I'm talking about. There're some aspects to it that make it inherently flawed and inconsistent with the reality of #Islam. I'll comment on two of these flaws, but there are many more.
It enforces the idea of nationalism through the use of the term "foreign fighters". This term is foreign (pun intended) to the Islamic worldview, and is the result of the artificial, post-colonial borders dividing the #Muslim world into European-style nation-states.
In the Islamic worldview, a Muslim is symbolically related through membership of the shared religion to any other member of this socio-religious group we call the "ummah" (the Muslim Community). That's the inside group. Those that do not share the religion are obviously not.

As a political leader & head of a growing religious community, the #prophet Muḥammad used to fly a banner (liwāʾ) and a flag (rāya). The difference? According to the #dictionary, a banner is "a long piece of cloth" while a flag is "a piece of cloth that represents a group."
The Companion Ibn al-ʿArabī was quoted in Fatḥ al-Bārī (6/147) as saying: "A banner is what is tied to the side of a spear to rally around, while a flag is that which is planted and left to be waved by the wind."

Having said it innumerable times, it remains a point that falls on deaf ears: to be critical of feminism is neither a lack of empathy, nor a dismissal of 2/6

1/ Yesterday, I attended a forum hosted for the #Muslim community by some of its biggest and most developed organizations (@emgageactionmi, @MIMuslimCouncil, @APIAVoteMI).

AND I WAS THE ONLY DEMOCRAT WHO SHOWED UP.
2/ In the week of the travel ban, and the week where @ocasio2018 obliterated a 20-year incumbent by listening to & speaking with communities of color, you’d think establishment Dems like @gretchenwhitmer would have learned a lesson. IGNORE COMMUNITIES OF COLOR AT YOUR OWN PERIL.
3/ I know for a fact that @gretchenwhitmer showed up for a Muslim community fundraiser a few weeks ago. But she didn’t show up to hear the community’s concerns and share her perspective at a forum hosted for us by Muslim leaders.

Don’t take the money if you don’t want the vote.
