1) The reality is that Trump is an awful person, and has been his entire life. He learned at the lap of his father (himself an awful, racist person with a terrible history) and Roy Cohn. Think about that. Roy Cohn was this man's mentor.
2) In terms of business, Trump's a terrible failure (true story) with numerous bankruptcies, etc. He's lost more money than he ever made.
The only two things he was ever good at was getting his name in the papers and news, and being famous. That's it. Nothing else.
3) In terms of competence in business or politics, he's never demonstrated it in any area of his life. He's good at being famous. Making money? No. He bankrupted a casino. He's good at lying. That's it. Character is non-existent for him.
4) He's awful. Plus, I personally don't want to be lectured on name-calling by any Trump supporter, nor on the use of hyperbole or exaggeration, not when Trump uses those to excess. I don't want to be lectured on character, when his is awful.
5) He's cheated on every wife he ever had, he's assaulted women and bragged about it, he's been credibly accused of rape and attempted rape more than once (his first wife testified under oath about being raped by him) he's pled guilty to committing fraud, the list goes on and on.
6) This doesn't even begin to address his long detailed history of bigotry.
Calling him awful is not name-calling, it's simply accurate. It's an accurate observation. He's self-centered, corrupt, cruel and ignorant. The evidence supporting that assertion is legion. That's awful.
7) Calling his supporters awful for supporting him is the same. You can say you "don't agree" with him on those things, but what you're really saying is those terrible things don't really matter that much to you as long as you personally profit from it, which...
8) ...to me, is worse than someone honest enough to admit they're simply racist. You're saying his racism, vulgarity, sexism and cruelty aren't important enough to matter to you as long as you get a tax cut, or a conservative judge. That's also awful. Dishonest and awful.
9) I marvel at the Trump supporters who lecture us on "hating" Trump, which is rich in irony. That's a motherland of irony. They're fine with hate as long as it's Mexicans or immigrants, but "we" shouldn't hate Trump despite his many trespasses. It's crap, of course.
10) Most New Yorkers hate him (and there's a lot of conservatives in NY, this is where Fox News is based, after all) and the reason is, they know him, have for decades. It has nothing to do with politics, why they hate him, and everything to do with who he is and what he is.
11) A complete and awful mess of a person who keeps getting out of trouble because he's rich and white, and every time he does lose everything, he gets somehow bailed out again. Privilege taken to the millionth degree.
12) He's the worst essence of us as Americans, everything vulgar, greedy and obscene about what people believe about Americans, that's what he is (think about his, he bought fast food for the college athletes... FAST FOOD)... it's like he saw the film WALL STREET as his bible.
13) Trump doesn't read, listen to music, doesn't have a dog or a cat, he only cares about himself, his money and scoring points by bagging a babe, a deal or an insult against someone weaker than he. He's a bully, a prototype American bully. Like all bullies, a coward at heart.
14) There are many Presidents who were the best of what American was and is (I'm thinking Teddy, Lincoln, JKF) and many citizens who are, too (Rosa Parks, MLK, Robert Kennedy) but Trump embodies the worst. All cultures have opposing forces, positive and negative. Tipping points.
15) He embodies everything negative about our culture. The fact he's embraced by rural voters and evangelicals, too, shows it was never about region, never about coast vs real America (he's from Queens) it was about are we greedy assholes or do we help each other?
16) But I will say that his supporters, defenders and concern trolls who enable him while "claiming" they don't agree with much of what he does, they're even worse. At least he's open about his obscenity. You're lying to yourself and to us about yours. Your awfulness.
17) You try to blame "liberals" and "elites" for your awfulness, but it's your choice. You're choosing. Our nation is disrupted, but this sin has been with us since the Civil War, it's confederate white supremacy vs actual American values... guess which side Trump is on? Or you?
18) What you choose to do, no matter the reason, defines you. You wanna be an asshole just because liberals pissed you off? Fine. But don't get worked up when someone calls you a racist asshole, because YOU choose that. You did.
19) No one made you do anything. The "you made me hurt you" domestic abuser bullshit isn't gonna work. You choose awful, don't be shocked when people call you awful. Don't cluck at how unreasonable liberals are, or their "hate" when you choose bigotry. You're a damn adult.
20) Be responsible, own your choices. You support Trump, you're gonna have to deal with the fact he's a racist, credible accused rapist and overall ignorant moron who has little idea of what he's doing. People are gonna judge you. Don't want to be judged? Don't leave the house.
21) Or be responsible and make adult decisions and own them. One or the other. That's it for me, I had to get that off my chest. I was sick of being lectured on hating Trump by those who voted for him because they hate immigrants. If you like, retweet the thread & stay sage, all.
22) a few more thoughts, so I guess I'm not done yet. Do I "hate" Trump? Of course, because he embodies that which I hate... I hate bigotry, bullying, sexism and a lot of that type of cruelty, I truly do. I stand against injustice.
23) Those who love his bullying and cruelty support it and him. It was never about politics or region, but about identity. The people who love him believe he's "saving America" from diversity. There are enough articles out there to support that assertion. That's nutshell MAGA.
24) MAGA, aka saving our culture from becoming liberal and brown (this is why the immigrant thing is so powerful for him, it triggers white panic) and for so many, whether they openly admit it or not, that's part and parcel of why his supporters love him.
25) Others will claim they're not racist, and maybe they're not or believe they're not... but what they do miss is their power. their male white power position, and that's a big part of it, that's why they lecture others on "elitism" and coastal stuff.
26) Because they miss the days when the middle aged straight HS educated white male was the sweet spot, the fulcrum of American power, and when a black man was POTUS, or a woman, or a gay, that's an assault on who they are in terms of the pecking order, & it's an affront to them.
27) This is why they say they "suffered" under Obama, though they can't quite define "how" they suffered, only that they did. This why they hated HRC, for not using email correctly (and the current POTUS doesn't, either, but he "knows" what he's doing, she doesn't).
28) and his supporters flock to Trump because he pretends to be powerful... powerful without knowledge, without experience, armed only with "street smarts" and bluster and bullshit, and they love that because they imagine they could do it if he could do it.
29) They're insecure and weak, and secretly know it, and he appeals to them because he's cruel to those they feel inferior too, (as the recent article in the Atlantic pointed out, "the Cruelty is the Point) and it's a salve on their insecurity. Doesn't matter that the house burns
30) THis is why I cede no ground to Trump supporters. I'm not interested in winning them over, I'm not interested in catering to them. They made their choice. If they're not interested in being adults, then I'll work with those who are.
31) I'll help those who are suffering real tragedies, not those lamenting the loss of their previous social privilege and standing over those currently suffering.
It really comes down to that simple of a choice. Okay, now I'm done, I think. Pls retweet if you liked this and tx.
