Fun times. Takeoff was delayed two hours by storms, flight going the longer route to Chicago, where we are handily missing our original connection, new flight gets us into Omaha around midnight.

Send booze.

Air travel is incredibly safe and I trust in the engineering of this plane and the craft of the pilots, so this is an entirely random notice that I love you all and it has been an honor and a privilege tweeting for you.
Also this is your Internet Politics Mom Friend reminding you that the seatbelt isn't "in case you crash". It also keeps you in your seat if there is a pocket of turbulence that makes the plane tilt like a see-saw. Serious head and neck injuries can result otherwise.
When my mother was alive, she would make sure I knew to keep my seatbelt on even when I was seated, even when they turned the sign off.

Which is part of the safety instructions, so obviously I did.
She told me anyway, and now I'm telling you: keep your seatbelt on when you're seated.

If nothing else, it saves you a scramble if they call for you to put them back on.
I miss my mother right now because my travel routine involved keeping her posted, even when my travel wasn't to or from her. Right now she would already be giving me suggestions about trying to rebook for an earlier later flight
I don't *need* her help here - I mean, the fact that I know what she would be telling me to do is testament to that. I have a preference for navigating the options on my own without outside input.
But there is a thing I have always done, as part of my process, which I have left undone, and so it feels incomplete.
Anyway, we are On Approach now. Barring further delays or flight changes, I will have about five hours on the ground in Midway.

Time enough for dinner, which I suspect I will need, as it's also lunch. Tips appreciated.
