Bought beers for a German tourist couple in Luckenbach TX yesterday, who were dressed in an amazing Euro-interpretation of cowboy attire
Apparently Germany has a subculture that goes apeshit for the Old West. I am told that the summer tourism business in Death Valley is largely Germans
Central Texas Hill Country is very German btw- Fredericksburg, New Braunfels, Luckenbach, etc. To their credit they were anti-slavery and actually battled against Confederacy
German settlers in central TX introduced their music to native Tex-Mex culture; that’s why Mexican music has the accordion and distinctive oompah polka beat

Draghi starts out with the alleged conflict between EU membership and #sovereignty, which is crucial to understand the populism of #Brexit, Le Pen et al. He says: no conflict at all, to the contrary.
“True #sovereignty is reflected not in the power of making laws – as a legal definition would have it – but in the ability to control #outcomes … The ability to make independent decisions does not guarantee countries such control,” says Draghi.
