I've long held the view that UN needs a permanent army containing overwhelming destructive force that has the ability to enter a region and forcibly separate (and in some cases disarm) warring factions when a humanitarian crisis is unfolding. I do understand the counterarguments.
... I don't like civilian casualties (I don't like casualties of any form) nor harm to the population in general. The conflict in Yemen has been allowed to continue for too long. A death toll that nears 100,000 - theguardian.com/global-develop…
Some people do misunderstand the purpose of having an overwhelming destructive force. It's certainly not to use it but instead to have that capability if warring sides won't disengage.
I.e. there's little point being the person shouting "stop fighting you two" whilst waving a nerf pistol at two heavily armed marine squads that are in a fight to the death.
