We have crossed another line. And members of Congress who do not speak against this - every media figure who does not demand that Congress & cabinet members denounce this - are complicit in a deliberate campaign which endangers the rights of every person of color in this country.
It’s enough that so many Americans think they have the right to demand that other Americans “go back” to the places frm which they immigrated or from which their ancestors descended. It’s among the most ignorant & self-unaware remarks to make when you can’t argue facts or policy.
But this is the President of the United States, encouraging other Americans to see their fellow ctizens as illegitimate and un-American and to see duly elected members of Congress (elected w/o assistance from foreign govts I must add) as illegitimate. When is it enough?
Mr. Trump himself is the child of immigrants to this country. He has no greater claim to American-ness than anyone born or naturalized in this country. And he has no authority to delegitimize American citizens - U.S. Congresswomen, no less - who courageously challenge injustice.
But we’ve now reached the full-on, explicitly racist moment in which if you are a naturalized citizen who is Muslim, an African American, a U.S. citizen of Puerto Rican descent, a Palestinian American - the President of the United States can deem you “foreign.”
