1. Today I've been studying design/usability heuristics - a surprise is that as popular as the Nielsen 10 are, they've apparently never been validated by research.

Do you use them or a different set? Or have you crafted your own?

2. In most of the ones I've read so far there's something so dry and academic about how they're written. Not any delight, or humor or style.
3. There's this mega-list with 100's of heuristics & guidelines, including references, but... having a designer involved in publishing them would have been a good idea (and the oversight probably violates some of their own rules)

4. My FAVORITE find so far was this one by Dr. Toni Granollers / @DCU_MPIUA - they combined two sets of heuristics, but then actually tested the heuristics in a trial with students. Nicely done.

5. A promising set is here but they don't list the 77 heuristics - I'd have to buy the deck ($39) to find out. Boo. I mean, I bet hiding information violates one of those 77, right? I'd pay, but I need to know what I'm buying.

(anyone have these? good?)

6. One of the authors of the original 10, Rolf Molic, has criticized the original list (and most lists like it). His work on revising it and applying it are here - dialogdesign.dk/CUE.html (h/t @jmspool)
7. This might the motherlode - exactly the kind of compilation I was hoping to find (authors love this). (h/t @jochenWolters)

8. Ok - that's all for now. Back to writing the draft. Thanks for all the links and suggestions. /FIN
