No, Islamic terror is not a "reaction." It comes from the Book. Why do you think affluent Bangladeshi Muslims killed people in a cafe in Dhaka when they couldn't chant from the Book? Or #ISIS killed Yezidi?

What absurdity. Baghdadi is a Ph.D. in Islamic studies and he is "cherry-picking"? He doesn't understand the Book? The Taliban (meaning "student") spend a lifetime studying the Quran & Hadith. They don't understand it? Are you fooling yourself or me?

Yes, this whole "breast tax" on "lower caste women" is a completely fake narrative. In many native communities across the world, women were topless just like men. In Kerala, the queen was topless in the 19th century as were Nair women. #FakeNarratives.
The whole "leering" comes from the #ChristoIslamic gaze and perversion of the mind. Exposing the breast was no more sexual than exposing women's face or the chest of men. The sexual-obsession-repression of #ChristoIslam creates rape and burqa culture.

It had nothing to do with wealth but with Anglicization and the colonial gaze. But we really need to document the old photos of proud grandmothers from Kerala to West Bengal and to document experiences.

@narendramodi and @naqvimukhtar should take a bow for communalizing every aspect of govt. For scholarships, UPSC, Govt service they will first ask your religion then serve you. True inheritor of the divide and rule Communal Award of the British. Separate electorate next?
Is this the same Modi who mocked the SP for Shamshaan-kabristaan discrimination in the recent UP elections.

Even SP did not setup special religion-based govt service centers. Can we just declare India an Islamic State and formally impose jaziya on Hindus? At least quit pretence.

The genesis of English obsession in India is the #EnglishApartheid policies of the colonial Indian state.

Pushes English at all levels—from Supreme Court, most High Courts, entrance exams, MBA, CA, medicine, engineering. It *makes* English an elite language.
The State's #EnglishApartheid causes mad rush to English. It then pushes more English, claiming that "people want it."

But barely 10% read English newspapers, even fewer watch English TV. Wherever there is real choice people DON'T want English. But State doesn't enable choice.
False. Which language theory taught you that "language is *just* for communication"? Language embodies culture & knowledge. Also pushing English at "grassroots" does not dismantle English apartheid. Village kids in English medium are *much* worse off.

Ein Thread zum Fall #Wächtersbach, weil mir im Berichten darüber (mal wieder) das weit verbreitete Unvermögen auffällt, rassistische Gewalt klar zu benennen. Typische Formulierungen, die seit gestern immer wieder auftauchen:
1. "fremdenfeindliches Motiv": ich kenne den Inhalt des Abschiedsbriefes nicht, den der Täter hinterlassen hat, mag sein, dass er Hass "auf Fremde" o.ä. formuliert hat. Er hat aber auf jemanden geschossen, den er nicht kannte, von dem er nicht wusste, ob er "fremd" im Land ist.
Konkreter: er hätte auch auf meinen Ehemann oder meine Kinder schießen können, wenn die gestern in Wächtersbach gewesen wären. Die sind Deutsch und Schwarz. Das Motiv heißt also Rassismus, nicht Fremdenfeindlichkeit.

I recently finished The Enigma of Reason, written by @hugoreasoning and @dansperber. It's about how reasoning evolved in humans.

Here are my notes from the #book.
1/ Their main thesis is that reasoning evolved so that in low-trust social interactions between humans, co-operation could take place.

Social interactions are low trust because each party has an incentive to take the advantage of the unsuspecting one.
2/ So reasoning evolved in order to enable strangers to cooperate.

A person could produce reasons to satisfy his claim while the other could get convinced by it.

With reasons, you don't have to take people on face value. You can being trusting reasons, not them.

Terrible events in #SriLanka. This is targeted killings.

We can certainly rule out #LTTE hand in this (whatever that's left) as it specifically targeted the Catholic churches and foreigners.

This looks like a hand of the Islamic outfits.

2/ Human systems are systems within systems, interacting in complex ways. No article / paper / logic can capture all interactions of such systems and their evolution over a non-trivial amount of time.

So fear one shot, large scale interventions (such as invasions, UBI, CRISPR)
