2. Probably, some low-level person was rushed, and grabbed the art. I did a Google Image search for “presidential seal,” and the results are normal. But the parody seal is the right at the top of the results for “Trump Presidential Seal."
3. Trump has spent the past two years conflating the duties, powers, and prerogatives of the office he holds with his own personal interest. His speech at Turning Point was, per the White House, an official event—although its content was indistinguishable from campaigning.
4. The image itself is a trivial flub, but it’s also a warning. Someone set out to illustrate the man, not the office, at an official event—and the president reaped the consequences of his erasure of that distinction. (The other lesson? Good staff work matters.)
