A lot of people are recirculating the video of Eric Garner being killed today. The video is vital because it shows police officers got away with murder.

But if we play it on repeat, at a certain point we diminish Mr. Garner's dignity. I’m gonna share this one instead.
As my friend and colleague @aaronlmorrison said when the decision not to file federal charges against Daniel Pantaleo was announced.
@aaronlmorrison This is so incredibly wrong. There are just other ways of expressing that right now.

I think the most important is listening to Mr. Garner's family.

They just released the names and races of the people who were killed in the Dayton, Ohio shooting. They were all Black, except for two who were White. Of those two, one shared the same last name as the shooter.

Tell me again how this is not about White supremacy.
Dayton is 40% Black. The person related to him was his sister. So there was one other White person of nine people. It is hard to believe this was not a shooting intentionally targeting African Americans. @shaunking

The reason Kamala Harris is not mentioned in Jamal Trulove's civil suit is because prosecutors have absolute immunity, meaning they cannot be sued for prosecutorial misconduct, no matter how egregious.
Police officers have qualified immunity. @JulianCastro mentioned this last night. theappeal.org/qualified-immu…
@JulianCastro Harris not being named in the suit doesn't mean she didn't do anything wrong.

It means our legal system has no adequate mechanism to hold prosecutors (or police) accountable.
