I guess I'm still in the "don't resist arrest" camp. Even if I think cops act improperly afterwards.

This is similar to how feminists get upset when they hear advice on how to avoid dangerous situations.
I'm not saying mouthing off to a cop or resisting arrest means you deserve whatever happens next. Only that it's something you can control on your end to avoid making a bad situation worse.
If a cop is acting improperly, not explaining why you're under arrest, tell it to the judge. Getting into an argument with the cop is not the way to go.
If the cop is in the wrong, by failing to comply you're giving him the justification to make it worse.

There are several layers to this problem.
1) Is the cop justified in seeking an arrest?
2) Is the cop pursuing the arrest in a legal and safe manner?
(1) can be true while (2) is not.

A lot of people seem think if (1) is false (in their judgment) then it's okay to resist arrest.
I don't know about likely, but the cop doesn't know beforehand how aggressive you're willing to go.

And to be clear, I think the second cop in that video definitely used excessive force.
