@realDonaldTrump 2) These advanced, solid-fueled, Road-Mobile missiles are most likely nuclear-capable and directly threaten US forces and citizens in Northeast Asia, including some 30,000 military personnel on the Korean Peninsula.
@realDonaldTrump 3) No previous US President would have ignored such a flagrant violation of UN Resolutions directly affecting US National Security.
4) Trump’s endorsement of Kim’s “beautiful” vision for the future of North Korea is an abject abandonment of every value US holds dear. Specifically
@realDonaldTrump Kim’s vision for dprk future is not beautiful. It is a nightmare vision marked by complete absence of basic #humanrights including freedom of speech, assembly, religion, travel, and any sense of due process. For trump to endorse such a vision is not just wrong...it’s insane.
@realDonaldTrump 5) Trump says DPRK behavior does not violate his handshake agreement with Kim in Singapore. That is (sadly, appallingly) true, but irrelevant. Trump’s handshake did not vitiate the relevant UNSCR pushed for and endorsed by the USG.
@realDonaldTrump 6) Moreover, the question remains: Why is trump such a pathetic deal-maker? Why lower bar, while getting nothing in return?
7) In year since Singapore, DPRK has produced enough fissile material to produce a dozen more nuclear weapons, and has now tested a new delivery system.
@realDonaldTrump Bottom Line: I am all for engaging DPRK. But ignoring DPRK actions which directly threaten US lives and the security of our allies is an unprecedented abandonment of the President’s most solemn obligation - to keep America safe.
@realDonaldTrump Trump seems to think only ICBMs threaten USA. This is absurd. EVEN IF USA had no forces in Korea or Japan and no alliance obligations to assist in their defense (we have BOTH), @POTUS would still be responsible for safety of half a million Americans living in Japan and Korea.
@realDonaldTrump @POTUS Moreover, the message Trump is sending to our allies (while demanding that they pay us “protection” money) is that we don’t give a damn about DPRK nuclear missiles aimed in their direction.
@realDonaldTrump @POTUS Trump will cloak his capitulation to KJU in language of diplomacy. he’s just trying to “cajole” Kim, he’ll claim. “Art of the deal,” he’ll whine. Perhaps in his mind, Trump has plan that makes undermining authority of the UN, trashing allies, and putting US lives at risk worth it
@realDonaldTrump @POTUS Or perhaps it is exactly what it appears to be: a US President so in love with himself, so delusional about his “genius,” that he cozies up to a brutal dictators who strokes his ego with “beautiful” letters of affection, even as he flouts international law and threatens the USA.
