“Once I have this/that, then I will be happy”
Within this text lies the path to:
“What will make me happy”
(Thread)
With this mindset, we create a subconscious contract with ourselves that requires us to be unsatisfied, or unhappy, until “this/that” has been achieved.
The present ultimately becomes compromised and destroyed.
“When my medical education is complete, and I’m making over $100k/year, I will then have all I need to be happy. This will be when I’ve achieved what I need to be HAPPY.”
My first paycheck gave me instant pleasure, a high, MONEY. I bought a flashy watch, paid bills, impressed women, etc. and still had plenty of $$$ leftover, with more checks on the way...
This money-high, this PLEASURE, that I falsely believed was HAPPINESS, didn’t work anymore.
“How is it possible to be unhappy when I’m making this much money?”
For weeks, maybe even a few months I don’t really recall, I walked the earth almost confused, unhappy. I was experiencing cognitive dissonance.
“If I make this much, I will be that happy.”

A significant lack of money can make life difficult, harder to achieve happiness, but an abundance of $ won’t directly translate to true happiness.
Money can buy temporary PLEASURE, but not true, long-lasting HAPPINESS.
If happiness were simple, something that could be purchased, derived from pleasure... Anthony Bourdain, Chris Cornell, and all the other wealthy humans with the “IDEAL” life would still be with us.
Work, discipline, commitment, and a genuine desire to do anything necessary to feel HAPPY.
It MUST be something that you commit to on a daily basis. It is a MINDSET.
They haven’t reached a point where they’re officially FED UP with the old way of living.
Purchase, read, & reread, the “Works that stood out” mentioned previously.
NO numbing your senses with:
Booze, weed, pills, cake, etc.
(Scary right?)
I want you to FEEL THE F*CK out of every single painful emotion you may have. Feel it, sense it, absorb it, analyze it, SURVIVE IT! You WILL survive it.
This could be debated for eternity, but the most logical answer is:
EAT THE WAY OUR ANCESTORS EVOLVED TO EAT.
Lean meat, fruits, vegetables, berries, nuts, water. Aim for LOW SUGAR/CARBS. Lower the better. SIMPLE.
If our ancestors required 2-3 meals/day, our species wouldn’t have survived.
I easily fast daily, often running around a busy ER managing life/death situations. JUST DO IT.
Download the “Zero App” to track and time your fasts.
With DISCIPLINE, you work out even when unmotivated.
Nobody has ever exercised and said, “I wish I had just stayed unmotivated in bed, on the couch, in the chair, etc. and didn’t work out.”
ACCEPT the REALITY that every morning when you wake up:
Problems, setbacks, Murphy’s Law, depression, etc. will be lurking around the corner, watching your every move, ready to debilitate you as soon as you let your guard down.
STAY. VIGILANT.
NO ONE IS COMING TO SAVE YOU.
The day you depend on anyone other than yourself to manage life's hardships, finances, health, etc. is the day you set yourself up for a SERIOUS let down.
SAVE. YOUR. SELF.
