Welcome to the 'International NGO' business, folks.
This same Amnesty, so worried about J&K stakeholders, failed to consult any stakeholders when Miss Nayirah let out a coached & well rehearsed sob story in 1991 after the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.
Before moving ahead, do watch this 'heartfelt' testimony by a 'traumatised' 15 year old girl in front of the US Congressional Human Rights Caucus, no less!
Pl do watch!
Amnesty International endorsed her story.
Heck, not just content with endorsing it, they corroborated it too!
This they did by publishing several 'independent' reports, and even testimonies of evacuees!
So professional, no?
Well, NO!
But first a word about what had traumatised this poor little girl.
She had seen Iraqi soldiers take little babies out of incubators in hospitals, steal the incubators and leave the babies to die.
It was understandable that she choked while recounting this horror.
Of course, Amnesty too found quite a few other witnesses to the gross crime against humanity.
This incident was milked to the hilt by President Bush as he went about drumming support for a military action against Iraq.
Who wouldn't support action against such crimes, right?
Of course, the military retaliation happened as we all know.
Iraq was brought down to its knees, as we all know.
But there was a slight problem - When ppl went to actually corroborate the story on ground, they realized one thing - No incubators were missing from hospitals!
Then they dug a little more.
And to their horror, they realized that this traumatized little girl was actually the daughter of the Kuwaiti Ambassador to US!
At this point, I interrupt this short thread to do a hat-tip to her acting skills. (See the video in 2nd tweet!)
The entire story had been fabricated and a bunch of lies, endorsed wholeheartedly by the good folks at Amnesty International.
When the heat got too much to bear, they displayed a pragmatic and large heart, retracted the story!
But, it was pragmatism of a 'different' kind!
Their false story & false reports had already done their job!
Iraq had been devastated, as planned!
The useful idiots at Amnesty had more than done their bit of war mongering, ironically, at the cost of truth about human suffering.
Aur ye saale humko lecture denge!
Keep bleating, you fcukers.
I'm still waiting for the day I see a genuine report on the Kashmiri Pandits' massacre from you all.
Till then you are, to me, just a bunch of 'motivated' manipulators.
Go pleasure yourselves.
