BLOOD WILL HAVE BLOOD
a thread on the creation of demons
For brave Macbeth - well he deserves the name -
Disdaining Fortune, with his brandished steel,
Which smoked with bloody execution,
Like Valour’s minion carved out his passage
Till he faced the slave,
Which ne’er shook hands, nor bade farewell to him,
Till he unseamed him for the nave to th’chaps
And fixed his head upon battlements.
That is how Scotland’s most feared general, Macbeth, dealt death to the general of the opposing army.
Duncan is the benevolent and far-sighted ruler of Scotland. Though wise, Duncan is elderly and in need of the military leadership of the rough Macbeth.
Lady Macbeth convinces her husband to kill Duncan and seize the crown for himself. Macbeth doesn’t simply poison the king. No, he uses a dagger, stabbing the old man in his sleep.
Macbeth then slays the King’s servants in a fit of rage and blames them for the murder.
A stabbing death is incredible brutal way to die. And bloody. There’s lots of blood in Macbeth.
Lady Macbeth is constantly washing her hands to rid herself of imaginary blood. “Out, damned spot!”
“Blood will have blood,” says Macbeth. Indeed, Macbeth can’t stop killing. He even orders the deaths of the wife and children of his rival.
Macbeth and his wife are subsumed by overwhelming guilt as the play progresses and the bodies pile up.
‘Macbeth’ is Shakespeare’s most demonic play. Shakespeare holds a mirror up to the audience. Forcing us into an awareness of our own nature, our own demons.
Only through self-awareness can we prevent them from consuming us.
Think about it: we are told, before he even steps on stage, that Macbeth has mercilessly gutted and beheaded a man, ISIS style. But there is no guilt. Quite the opposite, there is jubilation. He is a hero.
In the end, Macbeth himself is beheaded. The circle is complete.
Today, we debate whether to call mass murders committed by young white men, “domestic terrorism” or “white terrorism.”
When the US invaded Afghanistan and Iraq, we employed the strategy of “shock and awe.” Is that not terrorism? Thousands upon thousands died. But mostly the people OVER THERE.
Yes, many innocents died, but they killed our innocents first (wait, explain to me again what Iraq did to justify an invasion).
Just a few weeks ago, I was at a bowling alley on an Army base. I decided to play pool and found the game room. There was not a pool table in sight.
However, there were video shooting games, EV-ERY-WHERE
I was stunned. Don’t these guys get enough of that stuff during work hours?
No politicians are concerned about violent video games for our soldiers. The Empire wants to create killing machines.
Our elite want our young men to have guns when it serves their imperial designs.
When the killing machines boomerang back on our society, however, they want to call it terrorism.
The cruel Macbeth saved his murderous rage for the enemy invading his country. He didn’t invade other countries to spread terror.
Try to grasp your head around the reality that we barely defend our own border. Instead, we send our young men to fight and die in futile wars in distant lands.
How insane is that?
Look in the mirror, America.
The next time Ben Shapiro tries to convince you to open a can of ‘white terrorism’ on a foreign country, say “no.”
Let’s take care of our own young men and stop demonizing them.
