Me : None in particular. It could make sense as part of an industrial strategy play. My natural tendency for healthcare would be more towards a Buurtzorg "complete care" approach - bbc.co.uk/news/health-22… ...
... however, that doesn't mean both can't be done. I'm a little cautious on grand technology plays unless it's part of a wider industrial policy i.e. investment in UK based startups in the space, setting up a special economic zone to encourage this etc.
The worst case scenario for any technology focus is when it ultimately becomes a paid learning exercise for large hardware vendors and management consultancies to find new markets. I do hope the NHS has grown far beyond that. It should be interesting.

Labour calls for a no confidence vote - bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politi… ... Lib Dems side with a Conservative Gov - "we might do a deal with Labour but only a really right of centre Labour with the right shade of blue. Oh, and they've got to hate poor people" - no surprises.
X : Don't you think LibDems have a chance?
Me : They're 4th in the polls, behind the Brexit party. The only positive use for the LibDems is to split Conservative votes in areas where people are starting to feel a bit guilty.
Can we stop trying to be nice to the LibDems. They're Conservatives who lack the bottle to call themselves Conservatives. They're never going to genuinely support measures around reducing inequality, ending austerity etc. It's all corporation tax cuts and we love the EU.

Me : "We should work together to solve Brexit, to stop Johnson and his anti-democratic attempts to sort of crash out" ... that's party policy. Good on Tom. I do hope @joswinson has the sense to reverse Lib Dem's position on Corbyn

Me : Well, I'm certainly concerned over LibDem intentions on austerity, education and privatisation. They've shown they couldn't be trusted in the past - theyworkforyou.com/mp/11971/jo_sw…
... however, whilst the LibDems are more concerned with keeping the status quo with EU, Labour is far more concerned with austerity, privatisation, education and reducing inequality ... it's not an easy one but that doesn't mean common ground cannot be found.

Me : There are no competitors. There are just people trying to build a business with mapping. I call them allies.
X : But what if they're more successful than you?
Me : That'll mean the market is growing.
X : Don't you worry that some other company might own this market?
Me : See the open nature of mapping. Part of being open is to encourage others into the field. Remember the goal is to encourage the development of a better form of mapping.
X : Why do you want that? Wouldn't it make your form of mapping irrelevant?
Me : Mapping is about opening a door into a wide field. A better form of mapping is a requirement for progress i.e evolution. Why wouldn't I want that?

Who told the BBC? (I notice that John Redwood seemed pleased to see Rogers go.) On 3 January 2017, Rogers resigned. Was he forced? What on earth had Rogers done? He had told Ministers, CONFIDENTIALLY, that a UK-EU trade deal might take 10 years to materialise.(Btw, he was right.)
Ministers insisted a deal could be done within 2 years. Well, they certainly got that wrong! Nicholas MacPherson, Civil Servant Mandarin, now a Crossbench Peer, said at the time [Rogers'] departure marked a "wilful" and "total destruction" of EU expertise within Whitehall.

The violence in London appalls and terrifies me. A thread by an #NHS Doctor (and #Tottenham resident and father) /Thread
1. I’m a hospital doctor. My wife is a surgeon. We see first hand the raw catastrophic damage this violence is wreaking on these children.
2. Major trauma, whether that’s gun/knife/car, is dealt with at amazing units like the Royal London. The surgery can be brutal: chests are split like clams, abdomens incised within minutes, even whole arteries clamped shut. Anything to stop the bleeding, to save a young life.
