"I want to share just some of the messages that I've been sent by #Manus Men in PIH - many begging to get out.
I've been getting too many reports of abuse, assault and medical neglect at PIH for it to be ignored."

"These reports are coming from different men in different wards, from men who have no connection with others in the hospital.They can't all be exaggerating as the authorities would have us believe."

Message from PIH

"There are 3 men being force fed.
Details tonight from a guy in ICU at PIH POM, intimating distressing issues of very questionable medical ethics. The messages suggest a programme of treatment WITHOUT informed consent, which would frankly equate to Assault and Battery."

"Messages suggest:
• use of rope as hand restraints to forcibly subdue an already frail patient in his bed,
• use of a '1 metre pipe' providing access to the stomach, most likely a Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy tube(usually performed under sedation and local anaesthesia)

• Being given medication to sedate and induce sleep,
• Being administered medication via the tube as well as Enteral feeding, against the will of the patient
• The tube is painful and the Nursing staff are laughing at this

• Being told, by a Nurse, someone in a trusted position paid to CARE for the mental and physical wellbeing of her patients

"Bedridden man in PIH for 4 months can't walk was told he had to leave the hospital, he said How ? they put him in his bed out in the car park and left him. Police had to come and carry him to the Granville where he has no help at all !!"

Does this sound like medical treatment equal to regional Australia to you?? It sounds like negligence and abuse to me. Please contact your local MP - these men are sick and being treated worse than animals. We have to be better than this.
