1/ A thread on proactive mental health.

Tell Me Your Dreams is a program at CTC where employees spend 6 months with a licensed therapist identifying their dream for their life. They then declare their dream at “dream day” and join fellow dreams in “pursuit groups”...
2/ This program began as a way to help answer the question “why would anyone want to work for us?” Back before we had any cool clients or office space. The answer we came up with was that we thought we could care more than anyone else and the program was an attempt to do that.
3/ We began by just meeting with our employees ourselves for an hour every other week. But as we grew that became difficult. At the same time my brothers company @QALORing was struck by a tragic death of a young employee.
4/ To help his employees grieve he hired our brother in law to come and sit in the conference room to just be available if people wanted to talk. And they did. But not just about Daniel. Within one session they were sharing much broader issues about stress, workplace drama etc.
5/ Tom (my Brother in law) saw a major need and left his practice to start a business servicing the corporate world. We immediately hired him to run TMYD. And he (and now a team of four other therapists) have been meeting with every single one of our employees twice a month.
6/ The focus is their dream but the journey is self discovery.

Is has been incredible to see what has happened in people’s lives.

They are dealing with deep wounds, fighting addictions, becoming better versions of themselves.
7/ We have stumbled into a new modality for proactive mental health disguised as aspirational dreaming. It comes with none of the stigma of “therapy” and people are eager to go after the personal hurdles that prevent them from achieving their ideal future reality.
8/ And the timing follows a massive trend that is coming. Mental health in the work place will be the new ergonomics. Already the NBA and NFL have made moves to provide more proactive support.
9/ We believe so much in the impact of this program that we have recently partnered with Tom and @danesanders to launch TMYD as a separate company so we can offer the tool to as many people as possible.

If your interested I’d love to talk.
10/ And finally it would mean the world to me if you would go and upvote our SXSW talk submission on TMYD: panelpicker.sxsw.com/vote/101172

Thank you all!
