Weird. It's like Boris Johnson came to power on July 24, and said "Stop what you're doing, folks. Put down your pens, now. Your mission is no longer to make Brexit work. It's to dismantle the UK as quickly as possible. We have to have it in pieces before Halloween. Chop chop."
That is the only way of explaining the cognitive dissonance between what he and his team are telling the public about Brexit, and what is progressively being revealed they are planning in private. They are talking about replacing air freight with sea freight, for goodness sake!
And they've accepted that 2-of-6 oil firms could go bust, and that we *will* face much higher food prices into the next decade. In private, they're not even trying to push back against the Brexit dangers being presented to them. In public, it's all "huge opportunity this & that."
