1/ I get sent a fair number of books. @MotherJones gets sent a huge amount of books. Almost all of them are needlessly packaged in environmentally unfriendly ways. Today's bad actors: @Pegasus_Books, @verso and @littlebrown. (Another from Verso was fine.)

Every once in awhile it's a good idea to sit back and ponder the "standard beauty" differential between male and female "analysts" and "contributors" on cable TV news. All networks are equally culpable. It's just that Fox adheres to the blonde MILF model more.
This is why I rant about the new fake eyelashes norm. Yeah, male guests wear makeup now. But they're not being remade and cast to nearly the extent that women are.
And yes, there are some gorgeous "standard beauty" women who are also great subject matter experts or just super smart period. But same is true of women who look different.

Okay, let’s start with the cover. My husband pointed out that the image has three upright cakes neatly lined up and the one blue cake that is fallen over. I assume that since there are four characters, the blue one is the autistic character. Out of place.
