He bought access to all the right people, he sold out to foreign leaders to illegally lobby as a foreign agent, yet while Trump & associates entertained his proposals in the White House, they didn't go along with them.

The DOJ official plead guilty in November of 2018 for illegally laundering the money to disguise that it was a foreign attempt to influence the US government. Their goal, get Trump to play golf with Malaysia's former Prime Minister who is now in prison.
This case also lead to Goldman Sachs executives being charged for their actions in #1MDB.
The co-conspirators include Michel Pras of the Fuges who was not only involved in laundering money through Broidy to influence Trump. But he has been charged with illegal donations to Obama which may have slowed the case down for years. He was not charged by Obama's DOJ though!
While Broidy denies involvement, it is likely that he has already flipped. The Higgenbottam guilty plea included emails that implicated Broidy's wife and at least one of his daughters in the illegal efforts. Big incentive to cooperate...
