Good thread by @nick_weil on the Fusion GPS focus on FBI/CIA/DIA asset Felix Sater. Especially the irony of Ohr briefing Weissman on Sater's Russian collusion when Sater worked undercover for Weissman.

In one of my earliest threads, I identified that lots of people knew Felix Sater was a US asset. Including Bill Clinton & David Kendall, Hillary's lawyer.
I think the focus on Sater was meant to force the FBI to indict Trump & associates for fear Sater was going to be exposed.

The Clinton camp, CIA camp & ODNI camp knew Sater was an asset but very likely had no clue that Trump was an asset too. So they falsely assumed that Trump was the target of Sater's undercover operations rather than his partner in conducting the stings.
My theory is that the dossier & other efforts were done to scare the FBI into moving against Sater's targets & make arrests against Trump associates & Russians. Ohr may have told Weissman so that he would know his asset was being researched by everyone on the planet & at risk.
That was August 2016, same time Brennan is briefing Harry Reid about collusion, Strzok is kicking off Crossfire Hurricane, Isikoff is publishing articles, Reid is pressuring Comey to investigate Trump...

So I think Sater was targeted by Fusion GPS to get the FBI & DOJ to indict the targets of Sater's sting operations before he was exposed as an FBI asset. Done by people who knew Sater was an asset but thought Trump was his target. They were puzzled when Comey resisted that move.
I don't think it is a coincidence that the Clinton camp & John Brennan targeted a known US intelligence asset as the linchpin in the Russian Collusion story by accident.
