"[T]he most commonly held political view among self-described left-wingers is that converting to green and renewable energy should be a priority, which 92% believe. [...]
However, [...] 78% of right-wingers also think that"
-Oh God, the public.
yougov.co.uk/topics/politic…
"Among self-described right-wingers, [the most commonly held political view] is that global population growth is a problem, which 86% believe.
However, [...] 78% of left-wingers also think that global population growth is a problem."
-In short, everyone is wrong about everything.
"A majority [of right-wing Britons] (57%) also say the government should have a significant or dominant role in managing the economy, and 48% think the minimum wage is too low. A plurality of right-wing people also support nationalisation of railways (47%) and utilities (44%)."
"47% [of left-wing Britains] want to see tighter restrictions on immigration"
So basically, on issues which the Left gets right, most lefties actually hold right-wing views, and on issues which the Right gets right, most righties actually hold left-wing views.
Think of a stopped clock, which stopped at 4:15.
Now imagine every time it is actually 4:15, so that the clock would be accidentally right, the hands jump around, showing something else for a minute. And then when it is no longer 4:15, they go back to 4:15.
That's public opinion.
