Please, please, any parents worried about vaccinating your kids - chat to your nurse or doctor. Measles isn't benign. It can cause permanent brain damage and it can kill. Last year, there were 74 measles deaths in Europe. *Please* don't let your son or daughter be one of them.
I'm an NHS doctor. I've never accepted a pound from a drug company. I didn't hesitate to protect my kids with vaccinations. And I feel so incredibly lucky to live in a time when my children won't be left brain-damaged or dead by measles.
I wrote a piece about the risks of not vaccinating your children here. It includes links to reliable evidence from the NHS about vaccination.

Perhaps most sickening of all is the knowledge that Johnson *knows* how gravely No Deal jeopardises patients - and he simply doesn't give a damn. He will posture, bellow & spin, while fully aware patients' lives hang in the balance.

And keeping MPs & public wholly in the dark.

So. I was born in 1976. I started school in August 1980, just before I turned 5, at home - my older brother had attended an ACE kindergarten, and it was deemed too liberal by my parents (his teacher wore PANTS when she wasn't teaching!) #thread CW: Abuse
I was literally part of the first wave of Christian Right-wing Homeschoolers; my parents had planned to homeschool us illegally, and it became legal that month in Louisiana because a legislator's relative wanted to homeschool.
I learned to read when I was 4. I also was acutely observant and aware - because by that time I'd already survived broken bones in my arm and neck, at least one rape, and an STD. This made me hypervigilant, and also primed me to be skeptical of everything around me.

The claim that the #NHS could be 'sold off' in a US/UK trade deal is ridiculous - a political storm in a tea cup.

But the storm has moved into #PMQs today. So here we go - 3 reasons why this is about political posturing and nothing else (thread).
1) Shock, horror: American companies can already bid, and win, NHS contracts. American companies own NHS hospitals (@GuidoFawkes thread below). People may not like this, but let’s stop treating it like breaking news.
2) As @jameskirkup highlights, US is not really interested in providing NHS services. Makes sense - it’s a monopoly provider. It wants more access to drugs market, which could translate into more available drugs and treatments in the UK.

#Idlib_Dawn operation began May 6 targeting #Qalaat_alMudiq axis on #Hama

At least 10 loyalist KIA including 1 on Jub Ahmar (#Latakia/#Hama border)

HOWEVER May 6 was also 'martyrs day' so Facebook was flooded w/ old martyr posts making collecting accurate data very difficult.
7 of these deaths were #Tiger_Forces w/ 6 from #Taha_Regiment's Maskana Group and Omar Naqr Group (pic)

Jub Ahmar death was from #4th_Division, although I was told there were many other deaths here not reported on loyalist social media.

Today is a significant day for the Niger Delta. Commencement of Handover of sites to qualified contractors in first phase of remediation of 21 lots across the 4 LGAs of Ogoniland. Handover will be followed by mobilization of equipment & personnel to sites for the actual clean-up.
Of course some will ask ‘Why now?’ Answer: If you’ve followed the Clean Up news you’ll realize that the procurement process (by which these contractors were selected) has been ongoing for a while.
Has taken time cos:
1. Remediation is major work
2. Procurement is time-consuming
[When I say remediation is major work I mean to say the ‘Clean Up’ is not ‘environmental sanitation’. It’s a complex technical endeavor

NB. Alongside Remediation work, there will be work along the lines of provision of potable water, livelihood training & health impact studies.]
