This is politics today

Two articles from the same company describing me as either right wing or as a lefty depending on if it fits their chosen narrative

Both stories contain context showing they know who I am, either by my combined sub count or that I worked for Vice News
When they needed to smear the White house summit they say I'm right wing

When they wanted to show the left is challenging big tech they call me an online lefty

Recently a man was caught and charged in what appeared to be a hoax hate crime.

'MAGA' and the N Word were sprayed on the wall of his business

He was found with spray paint, wearing gloves, and his vehicle was identified by a witness.

I agree, we can't let language evolve naturally because we are smart

Therefore I'm going to start making up new words that are not offensive

Instead of saying 'hey guys' if there are feminists in the room I will say

'Hey gloojes'

Just made it up, new word, and its inclusive
I will start using new words for pronouns too

How about instead of arguing about he/her/they or whatever we just started referring to people as

'blarf'

"Blarf said blarf wanted to get blarfself a blarf-healing cutting pad for blarfs artwork"

New words can't be offensive
Instead of saying man or woman we should refer to people as Humon, the O makes it non gendered

Plus then we get to pretend we are like the ferengi

I’m not convinced by the arguments I’ve seen by @JonHaidt and @glukianoff but decided I’d take a *listen* to the Coddling of the American Mind (only way to consume books with a 6 month old!). Following my enjoyment of @wgervais’ thread on ‘Sense and Nonsense’ gonna follow suit.
Might not work as well in audio format (no screenshots of the holy relic of printed text) but let’s see. For reference thanks to excessive podcasting and a general lack of free time I’m now listening to things at 1.8-2X speed. (Makes everyone sound stoned at normal speed.)
Introduction: Trip to Greece to visit a guru in a cave sounded very weird/suspicious, which makes perfect sense given that is (spoiler) just a parable to illustrate three modern and supposedly popular problematic axioms. Side note: Haidt is a decent voice actor.

Two UK trade deal-stories today that deserve our attention (thread)
The first one regards Japan. Japan doesn’t just want to “roll over” Japan-EU. It negotiates an FTA with the UK. And it’s bringing to bear the fact that the UK alone weighs less, economically, than the EU27.
The UK apparently (and not particularly diplomatically) points to the need to speed up the negotiations to reach agreement quickly.

It is no surprise Twitter targets accounts for “wrong think” or as we on the #Right like to call it “free-think” this is because of two events which are now totally and utterly inextricably linked, #Brexit and #Trump and the Establishment have been rocked to the core. 2/15
Neither of which were supposed to happen & yet they did now the Establishment is determined never to allow it to happen again or even at all, the reason for them happening was nothing to do with social media, but was to do with people knocking on doors and persuading others. 3/15
