They were FREAKIN' CAPTIVES removed from the Portuguese slave ship, San Juan Bautista. En route to Mexico!

Further, had @SenKamalaHarris actually read the relevant documents, she'd know some were able to obtain indentured servant status, allowing them to eventually achieve freedom.

Technically, the English SAVED some of them from certain slavery in Mexico via Portugal.

Really sad.
@SenKamalaHarris Did they all end up free? Nope. Sure didn't.

But they weren't taken from Africa by the English colonists, who generations later became known as Americans.

They were sold to and taken by Portugal.
