Perhaps all those conspiracy theories that Louise is a Murdoch mole giving false reassurance aren’t so far off the mark.

I’m a Canadian citizen. Already lived through Canadian prorogue of parliament, twice, by the same PM. And once by Chrétien.

The first time it happened, almost every Canadian had to look up the meaning of prorogue, because it is RARELY used. Including me. It’s definitely not normal.

Louise is full of shit. Proroguing Parliament is not the norm. It isn’t just a few days. It’s over a month. But the timeframe isn’t the problem. It’s why it was done in the first place. To avoid a vote of non confidence.

Harper used it twice: to escape a coalition of opposition parties who were about to vote non confidence, & to avoid an inquiry into abuse of Taliban prisoners by Canadian troops in Afghanistan.

Now Boris Johnson is doing the same. Avoiding a non confidence vote from a coalition of opposition MP’s. And Louise Mensch is trying to convince Americans it’s a common practice.

It very much is NOT!

Oh how I wish Canadians had taken to the streets when Harper used it to hide his misdeeds and unpopularity.

At least Brits have the grit to get off their behinds and take to the streets.

Apathetic Canadians barely blinked an eye.

So deep is the demoralization and disinformation rooted in Canada, placed there by years of far right propaganda.

Or maybe it IS because we are too polite and unaware what the consequences of the abuse of this procedure has done.
