David Gauke writing to Attorney General today after Cabinet ministers refuse to confirm they would definitely be bound by a Brexit extension if Parliament votes for it this week, questioning govt's attitude to rule of law
He's on @BBCr4today in a moment - risk for rebels in taking that kind of action is it just creates more noise for No 10 that adds to impression they'll do whatever it takes to stick to Brexit deadline, including ignoring those they cast as pesky Remainers
@BBCr4today Gauke reckons No 10 strategy is to goad him and others to vote against govt this week, shove them out, and then go for an election - he's not wrong in that is one of many the options being considered
@BBCr4today Altho No 10 would still rather get a deal, and they would much rather get past Oct 31st before having to go to the country ... but events, events....
