There was always a very strange asymmetry to the Brexit referendum, because the "Remain" outcome could have been implemented at no effort or cost (other than that incurred during the referendum itself, of course) the instant the result was announced at 4:40am.
So by the time people sat down to breakfast on the day after the referendum, Brexit would have been done and dusted (bar Eurosceptics and UKIP-types raring to have another crack at it).

And we could have moved on to more important things like fixing the NHS, social care etc.
Who knows, maybe we would have still been the 5th richest country in the world, rather than the 6th...
