@RealAlexRubi After a slew of surveillance devices known as International Mobile Subscriber (IMSI) catchers were found around the DC area, US officials concluded that Israelis were behind the operation.
@RealAlexRubi The devices act like miniature cell phone towers vacuuming up cell phone communications and data within a specific radius including text messages and other private information.
@RealAlexRubi It comes as no surprise then that Homeland Security considers these devices -- also known as "Stingrays" -- as a possible threat to U.S. national and economic and security.
@RealAlexRubi But despite this as well as Israel's notorious reputation for taking intelligence risks, Trump won't be rebuking Israel anytime soon. On the contrary, both have denied that Israel was behind the operation.
@RealAlexRubi So while the US continues to send billions of dollars in taxpayer money to Israel, it appears they get to spy on Americans in return.
@RealAlexRubi But consider this: The Trump administration may be using Israel to circumvent US laws that prevent unlawful spying by outsourcing domestic surveillance to them.
