This is a great opportunity for parents to talk to kids about disinformation campaigns - malevolent (like Russians in the 2016 election) or as a "troll" like this #Area51 silliness.

Fun way to model critical analysis & how to determine authenticity

This seems goofy, but in our convos my kids and I looked at how to verify a news source & data/figures, how to track authenticity of social media posts, motivation of people promoting it & even joked about assuming the govt would keep aliens exactly where ppl think they would be!
These skills on a "fun" story open doors & teach skills kids can apply to things like alt-right and neo-Naxi propaganda, PragerU, Ben Shapiro, and others who say things verifiably ridiculous for the purpose of pushing an agenda.
