Not sure if this needs to be said but the existence of this text doesn't undermine the central claim made by the whistleblower--"POTUS is using the power of his office to solicit interference from a foreign country in the 2020 election." If anything, it corroborates it.
What it does is complicate this picture of Volker's role, making him a potential player in the mystery of how the "play ball" message was laid in front of the Ukrainians before the 7/25 call. But it's no shock that the whistleblower didn't know every cut and thrust in mid-July.

The point is that Zelensky brings up military assistance and Trump immediately answers with his own need for “a favor though.” The remainder of the discussion outlines that favor—both the nonsense server request and investigating the Bidens—which is all to be run through AG Barr.
What may be tripping pro-trump tweeters up, aside from deliberate obtuseness, is that Trump and Zelensky are working out the nature of the favors Ukraine is being pushed to do for Trump personally in conversation, rather than all at once. whitehouse.gov/wp-content/upl…
So: Trump cuts off discussion of the Javelins and says he needs a favor. He brings up the server conspiracy nonsense. Zelensky is agreeable but noncommittal or perhaps doesn’t understand. He offers that he’s already doing Trump a big favor by having his aides indulge Giuliani. ..

This part of the OLC opinion briefly summarizing what is and isn’t contained in the whistleblower complaint is, I believe, the most detailed official description to date. justice.gov/olc/file/12045…
The OLC opinion also says that someone—who implicitly determined that the IC whistleblower complaint was a “credible complaint of alleged criminal conduct”—referred the whistleblower complaint to DOJ’s criminal division for review.
